Statement of significance:

Intact example of an all brick church, typical of its period. Features some fine decorative work. Special historical interest to local Catholic community as the second St Patrick's Church, and the site of an early convent cottage. Part of the important church-school grouping on Wellington Street. Local significance.

Construction years: 1915-1945
Physical description: Large, twentieth century, all brick church. Gabled form with parapet gabled front to Wellington Street. Chancel on corner. Slate roof. Good decorative brickwork with stone relief to feature, stained glass window to main fa├žade. Romanesque style, round arched openings.

Historical notes: This was originally the site of a cottage, used as a convent by the Sisters of St Joseph from 1896. Eventually a new convent (1917), school and church (1918) were built on adjoining land in Wellington Street. The 1918 St Patrick's Church was replaced by the present building in 1929-1930. (Dowd, pp. 192-193).
