Statement of significance:

Renwick Child Welfare Group / Mittagong Training School Group
Is significant to the local community as the aesthetically most significant (group) component of the present Child Welfare Centre. The cottages are also amongst the oldest purpose built buildings on the site which has been associated with children's welfare facilities since the late 19th century. The cottages are also significant within the local area as good representative examples of substantial early 20th century residences, this significance being enhanced by the high degree of intactness of original fabric.

Physical description: Each is a single storied building of face brickwork with a half gabled roof and timber framed verandah encircling the front and side elevations.
Further information: A group of 3 early 20th century cottages (with various additions and extensions) included within a complex of over two-dozen buildings located along Bong Bong Road, east of Old South Rd. The cottages include:
- Suttor House (WI0194)
- Goodlet Cottage (WI0277) &
- Rowe Cottage (WI0276).
Current use: GOV Educational
Former use: Government


Historical notes: Site named after Renwick Cottage (since demolished) which was a late 19th
century childrens home in the vicinity.
