Description

Physical description: It is a simple face brick Federation style cottage with two shingled gables flanking the central entrance. The roof, formerly of iron, is now of Marseille tiles. There are small bay windows under the gables with sunhoods (formerly shingled); the windows have lost their shutters and small pane toplights. Additions have been made at an unknown time.
Evidence of former details from a sketch by George Collingridge, 1897 (Kuringai Municipal Library).

History

Historical notes: The house was probably built for either James Boyd or Arthur Joseph Brady. Built c1890, around the time of the opening of the North Shore railway from Hornsby to St Leonards. In 1902 and 1903 Mrs E Burton was operating it as a health resort called "Hill View".
