Temporary closures to rest campsites in Myall Lakes National Park

Media release: 8 May 2014

With the school holiday rush over, a number of campsites at Myall Lakes National Park north of Newcastle, will be temporarily rested to allow for rehabilitation and maintenance work in time for the busy summer period.

The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) Lower North Coast Region Manager Robert Quirk said during the cooler months visitation is reduced.

Mr. Quirk said ”There is little demand for a lot of campsites, so it provides a good opportunity to rest some camping grounds, and allow for natural rehabilitation to occur prior to the busy summer months.

”Four camping areas will be temporarily closed from Monday 5th May until Wednesday 17th September, reopened in time for the Spring school holidays”, he said.

“These include, Boomeri, White Tree Bay, Mungo Brush (south) and Stewarts and Lloyd’s camping areas."
