The workshops, to be held today (Wednesday 26 September 2018) at Taree Library and Thursday 27 September 2018 at Forster Library, will be presented by the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH), in partnership with MidCoast Council.

The Appliance Replacement Offer program is designed to assist low-income households across NSW with discounts to replace their old refrigerators and televisions with new energy-efficient models. The offer is part of the Office of Environment's Home Energy Action program.

"We know the challenges that rising energy costs place on hard-working low income families from the Mid-Coast. We want to ensure people have options available to reduce their energy use and save money on their bills", OEH Resource Efficiency Senior Team Leader Mark Squires said.

"Through this program, we're offering generous subsidies to eligible low-income households to replace old fridges and TVs with newer more energy efficient models", he said.

"This can mean an estimated annual cost saving for households of around $200 off the running costs of a fridge and $125 off the running costs of a TV.

"This initiative will benefit MidCoast families by providing new ways to lower their energy consumption and power bills.

"We welcome residents to join us at the workshop and learn how they can lower their energy use and save money in the long run", Mr Squires said.

The workshop will be hosted by MidCoast Council and attended by Newcastle-based OEH staff to help eligible residents register for the offer, and provide tips on increasing energy efficiency within the home.

For residents with limited Internet or computer access, OEH staff will assist eligible people at the workshop to apply for the offer online.

The Appliance Replacement Offer Information Session will be held from 4.00pm to 5.00pm on Wednesday 26 September 2018 at Taree Library, and from 2.00pm to 3.00pm on Thursday 27 September 2018 at Forster Library.

Residents from Taree, Forster and surrounding suburbs are encouraged to attend. To register for the information sessions, visit the MidCoast Council website at Events – MidCoast Libraries
