Repair works to close Watkins Road, Lake Macquarie State Conservation Area
The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be temporarily closing Watkins Road in Lake Macquarie State Conservation Area to undertake road works
NPWS Ranger Mary Temple said the southern end of Watkins Road at Wangi Wangi will be closed from 28–30 November, weather permitting.
"While the reserve will remain open, a 200-metre section of Watkins Road will be closed, affecting local traffic," Ms Temple said.
"There will be traffic control onsite and we advise motorists to find an alternative route during business hours.
"Another route for residents is along Rees Street that links Watkins Road and Dobell Drive.
"Visitors can reach the main entrance of the State Conservation Area at Reserve Road from Dobell Drive.
"School buses will be continue to be permitted to travel Watkins Road each morning and afternoon and this service will not be affected by the temporary closure.
"NPWS apologise for any inconvenience caused, but this work is a priority and needed to improve motorist safety," said Ms Temple.
