Saving the small purple-pea (Swainsona recta)
The rare and highly endangered small purple-pea (Swainsona recta) was known from only a handful of locations in NSW.
Then Williamsdale farmers Brett, Michael and Aaron found it on their land south of Queanbeyan and took steps to save it with the help of OEH botanist, John Briggs.
Meanwhile John Holland rail, which manages the rail network on behalf of Transport NSW, took steps to save the pea on the railway easements it manages.
It's a great story.
