How do I dispose of or recycle white goods?

There are several ways to dispose of major appliances such as fridges, washing machines, clothes dryers, air conditioners, water heaters, ovens and stoves.

If they are working or repairable, you can sell them, donate them to charity or give them away on freecycle.

If they are no longer viable, contact your local council to find out if they hold whitegoods clean-up days. Some councils charge a fee for this service, others are free. They can also tell you if the local waste depot will accept whitegoods for recycling. For safety reasons, you might have to remove the doors off fridges before collection.
