Citizen science is a way for everyone to get involved in a part of science they are passionate about without a science career commitment.

Lucy Asciano-HernandezI am a second-year Environmental Biology student, who is interested in conservation ecology, and habitat restoration.  I believe citizen science is a way for everyone to get involved in a part of science they are passionate about without a science career commitment. Personally, having a passion for nature and amateur photography has led me to contribute with images into global scientific data repositories using online platforms as iNaturalist and Atlas of Living Australia where every observation uploaded adds to the biodiversity information of the region. I have also been involved in a threatened species project on DigiVol sorting images online at my own time. It is rewarding to know the information provided will contribute to scientific research in the future.
