Environment Protection Authority
Notice to amend ongoing management order
(Section 44 of the Contaminated Land Management Act 1997)
Notice Number 20154417; Area Number 3281
The land to which this notice applies was declared as “significantly contaminated land” (declaration no.20101109) and is the subject of a management order (order no.20131402) issued by the Environment Protection Authority (“the EPA”). The management order directed the recipient of the order to, amongst other things, implement the Remediation Action Plan (ref. Report for United Service Station, Sutherland, Remedial Action Plan – Phase 1, GHD Report no.21/212118/176761 July 2012) to prevent further migration of contaminated groundwater offsite, remove to the extent practicable the light non-aqueous phase liquids (LNAPL), and ensure the required environmental and human health outcomes and timeframes for the remediation of contamination are achieved.
Most of the actions within the Order have been completed, however, changes to the remediation strategy for the site have altered a number of the actions and led to delays with the completion of the final milestones. A previous amendment notice (no.20134435) was issued by the EPA on 9 December 2013. This current amendment notice identifies the actions which have been removed from the original Order and identifies a number of new items, together with milestones for the completion of the remaining items in the Order.
The following amendments to the milestones set out in the order are proposed:

* S44 Amendment Notice number 20134435 dated 9 December 2013
In addition to the above amendments, monitoring is required of the discharge water from the manhole to the east of the steel reservoir. This should be undertaken following heavy rainfall and the results discussed with Council to determine any additional requirements to prevent future impacts to stormwater.
The EPA has taken into consideration the request made by the recipient of the order and hereby grants the above amendments to the milestones set out in the order and subsequent section 44 Amendment Notice (no.20144435).
Other than the amendments set out in this notice, the remaining terms of the management order (order no. 20131402) and subsequent section 44 Amendment Notice (no.20134435), remain in force.
