Cook and Phillip Sydney CBD air quality monitoring station

The Cook and Phillip Sydney CBD station is located at the north-western corner of Cook and Philip Park. This is a temporary location while the NSW Public Works overseas the construction of a permanent station nearby. The station measures air quality in the Sydney Central Business District.

The station was commissioned in early September 2019.

Using data from this station, we provide hourly pollutant concentrations, 24-hour summary and air quality category ratings (AQC).

The following air pollutants and meteorological variables are currently measured at Cook and Phillip Park:

  • Oxides of nitrogen (NO, NO2 and NOx)
  • Sulfur dioxide (SO2)
  • Carbon monoxide (CO)
  • Visibility using nephelometry
  • Fine particles – PM2.5 and PM10
  • Wind speed, wind direction and sigma theta
  • Ambient temperature
  • Relative humidity
