Biodiversity certification addresses the potential effects of land use change on biodiversity during the early planning stage. The certification process identifies areas that can be developed after they are certified and measures to offset the impacts of development.
This application relates to the rezoning of 27.2 hectares of land at 285–325 Pacific Highway and 6W Kemira Road, Lake Munmorah from RU6 Transitional to R2 Low Density Residential and C2 Environmental Conservation to enable future residential development combined with biodiversity, drainage and community facilities.
As part of the biodiversity certification process, the applicant is required to make the application available and invite the public to make submissions on the application.
The Biodiversity certification assessment report (PDF 24.1MB), Biodiversity certification application (PDF 3.2 MB) and Draft Biodiversity Management Plan (PDF 14MB) for the land at Lake Munmorah was available for public consultation from 16 December 2022 to 27 January 2023.
The applicant must now provide a report to the Department of Planning and Environment that includes the applicant’s response to any submissions from the public.
