Some land included on the Biodiversity Values Map is also land categorised on the Native Vegetation Regulatory Map. However, the 2 maps have different purposes.
- The Native Vegetation Regulatory Map determines how clearing on rural land not requiring planning approval, is regulated under the Local Land Services Act and associated regulation.
- The Biodiversity Values Map represents one of the criteria for entry into the Biodiversity Offset Scheme for some types of clearing and development proposals under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act.
Although the 2 maps have different purposes, changes made to the Biodiversity Values Map involving mapping criteria in common with the Native Vegetation Regulatory Map will lead to a category change on the Native Vegetation Regulatory Map. Find out more about the Native Vegetation Regulatory Map.
