Past landcover reporting

We report on changes in landcover across New South Wales each year.

We have been reporting on landcover change annually since 2008, and data on woody vegetation loss is available back to 1988. Over time, monitoring has been undertaken using a range of sensors and reported in a variety of formats.

Woody vegetation change is detected through a combination of automated and manual interpretation of the differences between images captured during summer each year. Results for woody vegetation change are currently generated using imagery from the Sentinel-2 satellite.

An archive of data and reports is available and spatial data is available on the SEED portal.
