The Murramarang South Coast Walk master plan has been finalised and is now available for you to view.
This final master plan provides the conceptual details that will guide national parks and Wildlife Service in delivering improved visitor facilities while protecting significant natural, cultural and social values of Murramarang National Park and Murramarang Aboriginal Area.
In July and August 2020, we exhibited a draft master plan and draft review of environmental factors so the community could comment on the types of changes and improvements proposed.
105 submissions were received.
We have prepared a submissions report that provides a summary of the submissions received and our response.
Key changes that were made to the master plan response to submissions included:
- increase in the number of public facilities along the walk, including reinstating the toilet at Yellow Rock and extra BBQs
- a staircase will be installed at the Maloneys Beach precinct to provide a direct link to the Archeron Trail
- adjusting the size of a formalised carpark at Maloneys Beach.
In addition, we will investigate the potential for a northern trail head to be built at Pretty Beach, providing a central access point for all park users located within the national park.
We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took the time to review and comment on the plans and stakeholders who have participated in meetings with the project team. This has allowed us to refine the project further and deliver the walk to a high standard.
