Councils can access up to $12.5 million in funding to upgrade street lighting to LED. This includes high energy-use mercury vapour lights that are owned and/or maintained by NSW electricity distributors.
Other financial incentives can be accessed through the NSW Energy Savings Scheme (ESS) when upgrading street lighting to LEDs.
New LED street lighting means:
- lower energy use
- cheaper bills
- reduced maintenance
- reduced carbon emissions
- increased community safety through brighter and higher quality lights
- smarter control systems to help capture data and provide insights on lighting performance.
