Shoalhaven City Council monitor 10 swimming sites on a weekly basis from December to February.
17 March 2023: NSW Water has reported algae blooms at some
swimming sites in the Shoalhaven region, which may appear as a brown slick or
sawdust like particles at the water surface. As a precaution, direct contact
with the algae should be avoided as it can cause skin and eye irritations. It
is expected the algae blooms will dissipate with changes in tide and wind
conditions.
If you're unsure about the safety of swimming at your local beach or swimming spot, speak to the lifeguards on duty or give Shoalhaven City Council a call.
Sample day is 27 February 2023
Rainfall in the 24 hrs prior to sampling (to 9:00 am): 0 mm (Jervis Bay)
