NSW Flood Recovery and Resilience Grant Program

In response to the catastrophic flooding in February and March 2022, the Australian Government has provided NSW with $40 million in funding to manage flood risk for 62 disaster declared local government areas.

Current funding round

The 2023–24 funding round has closed.

The NSW Government, with the financial support provided by the Australian Government, will provide technical and financial support through this program to the eligible local government areas to manage flood risk.

This program will support the implementation of the NSW Flood Prone Land Policy, which aims to reduce the impacts of existing flooding and flood liability on communities and reduce private and public losses resulting from floods, using ecologically positive methods wherever possible.

The program is administered by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.

Support provided under the programs usually involves $3 from government for every $1 provided by the applicant.

Councils, county councils and other government bodies with equivalent floodplain risk management responsibilities to local councils (e.g. Hunter Local Land Services), that are within the 62 local government areas outlined below are eligible to apply.
