Picnics and barbecues

You'll find picnic facilities at several places in the park:

Burrawang Reach picnic area

Whether you arrive on your water skis, in your kayak or walk in, this picnic spot won’t disappoint. It’s in the western most part of the park, so you can only get there on water or on a short walk from your vehicle.

Not only is Burrawang Reach picnic area a great spot to pause and moor your vessel, the picnic area is a perfect place to set up for the day, with tall shady trees, safe fishing spots and plenty of birdlife to keep you engrossed for hours.

There’s ample room for a family gathering and you can use the barbecues or bring along a spread to share on the wide stretch of grass. After lunch take a walk along the Ridge track to Cattle Duffers Flat picnic area.

Getting there: Burrawang Reach picnic area is in the Morgans Creek precinct of Georges River National Park. To get there:

  • From Henry Lawson Drive, turn into Burrawang Reach Road opposite The River Road
  • Continue straight and follow the road along the river to the end

Road access: Sealed road - 2WD vehicles.

Fitzpatrick Park

The flat expanse at this picnic area is a great place for the kids to kick a ball or throw a Frisbee to work up an appetite. After a tasty picnic or barbecue lunch, relax on your picnic rug, take in some sunshine or set off on an exploration of the park – there’s heaps to do including the nearby Yeramba Lagoon loop track.

Fitzpatrick Park is just the place for a spot of family fishing – cast a line to try your hand at catching a luderick, mullet or mulloway. If you’d like to go on a boating or paddling adventure, you can launch your canoe or kayak from the nearby boat ramp.

Getting there: Fitzpatrick Park is in the Fitzpatrick Park precinct of Georges River National Park. To get there:

  • From Henry Lawson Drive, turn into Carinya Road
  • Follow the road to the end

Road access: Sealed road - 2WD vehicles.

Morgans Creek picnic area

Morgans Creek picnic area is a riverside picnic area in Georges River National Park. It’s large and grassy, so an excellent choice for families with children who like lots of space to roam.

Morgans Creek picnic area is a sunny spot during winter, with plenty of tree cover and picnic shelters to provide shade in warmer months. The park is home to many bird species, so you’ll probably see and hear a few while you’re enjoying your picnic lunch.

Popular with anyone who likes to play on the river you’ll find waterskiers and jetskiers as well as boaters and fishermen out enjoying the water. A dual width boat ramp and easy access from the carpark means you will be out on the water in no time.

  • From Henry Lawson Drive, turn into Burrawang Reach Road opposite The River Road
  • Veer left after the roundabout into Morgans Creek picnic area.

Road access: Sealed road - 2WD vehicles.
