White-throated needletail Hirundapus caudacutus (Latham, 1801) has been listed as a vulnerable species.

In New South Wales (NSW) this species is currently known to migrate to spend the non-breeding season in Australasia. In eastern Australia, the species is recorded in all coastal regions of Queensland and NSW, extending inland to the western slopes of the Great Dividing Range and occasionally onto the adjacent inland plains.
