Further weather closures in Gardens of Stone State Conservation Area and Wollemi National Park

Department media release Gardens of Stone State Conservation Area Wollemi National Park Kanangra-Boyd National Park National Parks and Wildlife Service News and media releases

The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is advising visitors to check before travelling to national parks in the Lithgow area as ongoing wet weather forces closures.

The Gardens of Stone State Conservation Area is closed from today and is likely to remain closed into next week. This includes the popular Lost City walking track.

Recent prolonged rain and high volumes of traffic have resulted in slippery conditions and surface damage on several roads which have been temporarily closed until conditions improve.

This follows ongoing closures in Wollemi National Park where areas impacted include:

  • Deep Pass
  • Glow Worm Tunnel
  • Newnes camping area

In the Kanangra-Boyd National Park closures include:

  • Kowmung River fire trail
  • Dingo Dell Camping area

The reserve is expected to reopen once road condition assessments have been undertaken and they are considered safe for public access.
