Hazard reduction burn in Bargo River State Conservation Area
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) with assistance from the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS), is undertaking a hazard reduction burn in Bargo River State Conservation Area starting tomorrow Wednesday 15 April.
This operation is part of an ongoing hazard reduction burn program and will treat over 376 hectares in the Yerrinbool area.
The burn will help reduce the spread of bushfires and improve protection of neighbouring properties while maintaining biodiversity.
The favourable autumn weather conditions provide a critical opportunity for fuel reduction burning.
Smoke may impact the Hume Freeway and Wilsons Drive.
Motorists are reminded to drive to conditions and observe advisory signs which will be in place.
NPWS along with neighbours and other agencies has numerous prescribed burns, including
cultural burns, planned across NSW.
People with known health conditions can sign up to receive air quality reports, forecasts and alerts via email or SMS from the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.
