The park provides protection for an important remnant of woodland vegetation in a highly modified landscape. It also protects significant cultural heritage values and biodiversity values, and provides opportunities for public recreation and nature appreciation.

This plan describes how the park will be managed to achieve the objects of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974, consistent with the management principles under the Act for national parks.
