Tyagarah Nature Reserve Plan of Management

The park provides a natural coastal setting including sandy beaches, heath, wetland, woodland and rainforest. It contains several threatened plants and ecological communities and forms part of a regional corridor that provides habitat for many native animal species.

The park is a place of spiritual and cultural significance for Aboriginal peoples that is jointly managed by National Parks and Wildlife Service and the Arakwal. There are few visitor facilities in the park and limited public access, with visitor activity concentrated at the Tyagarah Day Use Area and the adjacent beach. This park was not impacted by the 2019-20 bushfires.

The plan of management will provide continued protection of the park’s values.

This plan will replace the Byron Coast Group of Nature Reserves Plan of Management in relation to Tyagarah Nature Reserve.
