The Aboriginal Women's Heritage booklet series began in 2003 with this booklet that records the stories of 9 women in Nambucca Heads on the New South Wales north coast. It was so successful a series of booklets was developed to describe the cultural attachment Aboriginal women have to their local landscape.

The booklets were part of a project designed to raise the profile of the unique historical experiences of Aboriginal women. The series won the 'cultural heritage' category of the Energy Australia National Trust Heritage Awards in 2005.

These Aboriginal Women Elders from the Nambucca Valley share their unique historical experiences as Aboriginal women along the coast of New South Wales. They give a brief insight into their lives during a time when Aboriginal people lived under the policies and control of the Aborigines’ Protection Board and the Aborigines Welfare Board.

Other booklets in the series include:

Aboriginal Women's Heritage: Ballina and Cabbage Tree Island
Aboriginal Women's Heritage: Bourke
Aboriginal Women's Heritage: Brungle and Tumut
Aboriginal Women's Heritage: Nepean
Aboriginal Women's Heritage: Nowra
Aboriginal Women's Heritage: Port Stephens
Aboriginal Women's Heritage: Wollongong.

Some of these booklets were evaluated in the Aboriginal Heritage and Wellbeing publication.
