This Code sets the standards for the care and housing of wombats that are incapable of fending for themselves in their natural habitat and applies to the welfare of wombats controlled under a licence issued by OEH to rehabilitate, sick, injured and orphaned protected animals.
The Code is designed to be read in conjunction with the Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) Code of Practice for Injured, Sick and Orphaned Protected Fauna (General Code).
Compliance with the standards is a condition of licences to rehabilitate and release sick, injured and orphaned protected animals issued under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016.
