The reserve is 240 hectares and forms a green corridor connecting the Somersby Plateau with Ourimbah Creek valley. A 43.6-hectare voluntary conservation agreement adjoins the eastern side of the reserve, increasing the size of protected areas and the connectivity across the landscape. A council road reserve bisects the reserve.

The reserve is located within the administrative areas of Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council, Central Coast Council and Greater Sydney Local Land Services.
