A number of methods have been used in an attempt to reduce flying-fox damage to crops including scaring devices, olfactory, visual or acoustic deterrents and lethal control such as shooting. The NSW Department of Primary Industries and the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage recommend full-exclusion netting as the most effective method to mitigate against crop damage.
