Park management documents

The Minyon Falls master plan proposed the upgrade of visitor infrastructure at Minyon Falls and Minyon Grass picnic area in Nightcap National Park as part of the Tweed Byron Hinterland Trails project.

This document is the pest management strategy for the Northern Rivers Region, which is located on the far North Coast of NSW, and stretches from Grafton in the south, north to the Queensland border at Tweed Heads and west to near Killarney.

The Review of Environmental Factors (REF) was determined on 10 October 2022. Subsequent to feedback from the public exhibition of the draft master plan in late 2022, amendments have been proposed to some components of the project.

The proposed Tweed Byron Hinterland Trails project will involve the establishment of a multi-day walk and several shorter walks through Nightcap National Park, Whian Whian State Conservation Area and Mount Jerusalem National Park, connecting Manns Road trail head (near Unicorn Falls in Mount Jerusalem National Park) to the Minyon Falls day-use area in Nightcap National Park.

The Minyon Falls precinct is a popular visitor destination in Nightcap National Park north of Lismore on the New South Wales north coast.

A major focus of the amendments is development of a multi-day walking track route linking Tweed Shire, via Mount Jerusalem National Park, to the visitor area at Minyon Falls in Nightcap National Park.

This plan of management encompasses the national parks and nature reserves commonly known as the Tweed Caldera, all of which form part of the ancient Mount Warning (or Wollumbin) shield volcano in far northern NSW. The 'planning area' encompasses Wollumbin (formerly Mount Warning), Border Ranges, Mebbin, Nightcap, Goonengerry and Mount Jerusalem National Parks and Limpinwood, Numinbah and Snows Gully Nature Reserves.

The Tweed Caldera National Parks and Nature Reserves encompasses Wollumbin (formerly Mount Warning), Border Ranges, Mebbin, Nightcap, Goonengerry and Mount Jerusalem National Parks and Limpinwood, Numinbah and Snows Gully Nature Reserves. These amendments affect Nightcap National Park only and have been prepared cognisant of the need for complementary and integrated management of Nightcap National Park with the adjacent, more recently reserved, Whian Whian State Conservation Area.
