The Biodiversity Indicator Program reports on the state and trends of biodiversity in New South Wales. We have developed a framework of indicators to help scientists, managers and policymakers understand the current state of biodiversity and how it is likely to change in the future.

The indicator framework uses the best available science for measuring biodiversity and ecological integrity. It reflects how we manage our landscapes and protect natural areas. The framework is arranged hierarchically by class, theme and family.

The expected survival of biodiversity theme comprises 2 indicator families: listed threatened species and ecological communities (3 indicators reported here) and all known and undiscovered species (1 indicator reported here). These indicators report on the likely long-term survival of species and ecological communities, including those that have been formally assessed for risk of extinction and listed as threatened.
