Expected survival of all known species: report card supplementing the NSW biodiversity indicator outlook report 2024
The Biodiversity Indicator Program reports on the state and trends of biodiversity in New South Wales. We have developed a framework of indicators to understand the current state of biodiversity and how it is changing over time. An indicator is a numerical value that gives insight into the current state, or a change in state.
The indicator framework uses the best available science for measuring biodiversity and ecological integrity. It reflects how we manage our landscapes and protect natural areas. The framework is arranged hierarchically by class, theme and family.
This report card presents the results for the expected survival of all known species indicator in the expected survival of all known and undiscovered species indicator family. This indicator measures the number or percentage of all known species in a biological group originally occurring in New South Wales expected to survive in 100 years. It includes species known to be threatened as well as those not known to be threatened.
