Towarri National Park, Wingen Maid and Cedar Brush Nature Reserves are located approximately 25 kilometres north of Scone and 160 kilometres north-west from Newcastle, in the Upper Hunter Valley.
Burning Mountain Nature Reserve is situated in highly folded terrain approximately 25 kilometres north of Scone adjacent to the New England Highway. Although small in area, the reserve’s 14.5 hectares conserves interesting features which have resulted from the naturally occurring burning of an underground coal seam, believed to be one of only three such phenomenon in the world.
John Gould Nature Reserve and Boondelbah Nature Reserve are islands located offshore from Port Stephens, within the Port Stephens - Great Lakes Marine Park. The islands cover 36 hectares in total.
Hunter Wetlands National Park covers 4549 hectares in the lower estuarine reaches of the Hunter River, north of Newcastle. The lands are in the traditional Country of the Awabakal and Worimi peoples.
Khappinghat National Park, Khappinghat Nature Reserve and Saltwater National Park are located on the NSW mid north coast, approximately seven kilometres south-east of Taree.
This fire management strategy incorporates Barrington Tops State Conservation Area, Mount Royal National Park, Running Creek Nature Reserve, Killarney Nature Reserve, Monkerai Nature Reserve and Black Bulga State Conservation Area.
