Notification of determination for offset obligation

To monitor the operation of the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme, the department asks all decision makers to notify it of the determination of every development or activity to which the scheme applies.

Notification of determination

Decision makers who should notify the department of a determination or approval include:

  • local councils
  • Part 5 authorities
  • the Native Vegetation Panel.

The notification process is as follows:

  1. The decision maker completes and submits the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme – Notification of Determination form below.
  2. The Biodiversity Offsets and Agreement Management System will then be updated with the determination outcomes.

Alternative method to notify the department of a determination or approval

The department has now developed a new process where, if you are an existing user, you can record this information directly within the Biodiversity Offsets and Agreement Management System.

For guidance, please see the March 2025 Release notes (PDF 2.6MB).

Note: For this automated process please add the application PAN number beside the DA number in the Biodiversity Offsets and Agreement Management System (BOAMS) parent case rather than upload the NoD entirely.

For new users, system login details can be provided by the BOS Helpdesk on bos.helpdesk@environment.nsw.gov.au
