The Gwydir valley catchment extends from the Northern Tablelands to the Northern Plains, where it joins the Barwon River, covering an area of 26,596 square kilometres.

In 2023–24, NSW water managers will support waterbirds and native fish, and their habitats, by making deliveries as planned and in response to rainfall and natural river flows.
