Under Section 26 of the Coastal Management Act, the minister may ask the NSW Coastal Council to conduct a performance audit of the implementation of a local council’s coastal management program (at cost to the Government). The purpose of a performance audit is to determine whether a local council is effectively implementing a coastal management program, and to identify opportunities for capacity building of councils. Audit findings and conclusions will be presented back to the Minster.

The NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water monitors the health of wetlands in the Murray–Darling Basin, including outcomes from environmental water deliveries. Nearly half of the frog species residing in floodplain wetlands of the Murray–Darling Basin breed in response to river flows that inundate wetlands and therefore benefit from the delivery of environmental water. These ‘flow-dependent’ species are the primary focus of the department’s Water for the Environment Frog Monitoring Project.

The NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water monitors the health of wetlands in the Murray–Darling Basin, including outcomes from environmental water deliveries. The Basin-wide environmental watering strategy and NSW long-term water plans set out waterbird objectives and targets for important wetland regions in the NSW Murray–Darling Basin. These objectives focus on maintaining the number of species, increasing waterbird abundance, and providing greater opportunities for breeding.

The NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water monitors the health of wetlands in the Murray–Darling Basin, including outcomes from environmental water deliveries. This report evaluates how flood-dependent native vegetation communities in the Gwydir Wetlands and Macquarie Marshes of the NSW Murray–Darling Basin are tracking against long-term water plan objectives.

The NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water monitors the health of wetlands in the Murray–Darling Basin, including outcomes from environmental water deliveries. This report summarises the ecological outcomes related to inundation extent in the Murray–Darling Basin floodplain wetlands. It includes a preliminary assessment of progress towards objectives and targets in the long-term water plans for the flows and connectivity theme for the 2013 to 2023 period.

The NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water monitors the health of wetlands in the Murray–Darling Basin, including outcomes from environmental water deliveries. The Australasian bittern (Botaurus poiciloptilus) is a nationally endangered waterbird species dependent on wetlands for feeding and breeding. Once common across south-eastern Australia, the number of these birds has declined across their range in response to changes to natural flow regimes.
