In 2023, the NSW Government committed to establishing a Great Koala National Park on the Mid North Coast. To provide high-quality data on the koala populations in the 176,000 ha of state forest that is being considered for inclusion in the proposed Great Koala National Park, the Koala Science Team within the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water developed a survey for the area. Observations were also made of 2 threatened glider species.
