Renewing accreditation

  • The Biodiversity Assessment Method accreditation term is generally 3 years.
  • Your accreditation expiry date is listed on your accreditation certificate, on the Public Register of Accredited Assessors and in your Biodiversity Offsets and Agreements Management System (BOAMS) account.
  • Your name will not show on the public register if your accreditation expiry date has passed.
  • If your accreditation has expired, you cannot certify or submit Biodiversity Assessment Reports.
  • Late applications: The department may consider late applications up until 3 months after your ‘valid to’ date has passed.
  • There is no fee to apply for renewal. However, there is an accreditation term fee if your renewal application is approved (see below).

Please contact us if you have personal circumstances requiring consideration about your renewal's timing.

To renew your accreditation, you will need to:

  1. attend renewal training
  2. submit a completed application form including:
    1. a signed code of conduct and fit and proper person declaration
    2. a continuing professional development log that meets the specified minimum requirement once your application is approved
  3. pay your accreditation term fee once your application is approved. See Scheme fees.

Expired accreditation

Your accreditation is considered expired once your ‘valid to’ date has been reached. Once expired, you cannot certify any Biodiversity Assessment Reports or submit cases to the consent authority in BOAMs.

From May 2026, the department is changing its system settings. Access to the Biodiversity Assessment Method Calculator (BAM-C) will only be available for people with valid accreditation term dates.

Renewal training

The renewal training course has 2 parts:

  • Part 1: Pre-learning: 4 compulsory eLearning modules
  • Part 2: Face-to-face webinar includes two 7-hour sessions of interactive online webinars.

Assessment tasks: You will need to complete the assessment tasks outside course hours and submit within 5 days of the course. Please set aside time as you will need to complete quizzes and prepare credit calculations in a case study. You may be required to complete a second attempt on any outstanding questions.

Competency is demonstrated by attending the course and successfully completing the assessment tasks.

Course occurrences may be amended if insufficient enrolments are received for a particular renewal training webinar. In this event, the BAM Training and Accreditation Team will contact students to amend their enrolment.

Cost

The cost is $2,000.

How to register

You will be able to register for training in the 3 months before your accreditation expiry date from your account in BOAMs. If you would like to register prior to that date, please contact us so that we can facilitate your registration in your chosen course date.

Log into the BOAMs and enrol for the renewal training course. A button will appear on the right-hand side of your home screen. You can choose which webinar dates you would like to attend.
