The minimum lead time required for NPWS to process an application is:

  • low impact film production or photography: 7 business days
  • medium and high impact film production or photography: 10 business days
  • drone use: 10 business days.

Please note: We treat applications submitted after 1:00 pm as received on the next business day.

Processing may take longer depending on the nature of the proposal. We will begin processing only after you submit a complete application with all required documents.

Payment

A non-refundable application fee is payable when you submit your application. When the application is approved, additional fees will be payable where applicable.

Once all fees have been received, we will issue an agreement that authorises your activities and includes all conditions relating to the filming or photography activity.

Consultation with the relevant Aboriginal custodians to seek endorsement is required when filming Aboriginal cultural sites, Aboriginal people or aspects of Aboriginal culture.
