Certified coastal management programs

A local council may prepare and adopt a draft coastal management program and submit it to the Minister for certification.

The Minister may certify, or refuse to certify, that the draft coastal management program submitted to the Minister has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Act and the coastal management manual.

A coastal management program takes effect on the date on which it is published by the local council in the NSW Government Gazette or, if a later date is specified in the program for its commencement, on the later date so specified.

The CMP supports sustainable management of Eurobodalla’s estuaries to protect values and community wellbeing for current and future generations

MidCoast Southern Estuaries Coastal Management Program (Stage 4)

Addresses current and emerging risks such as climate change, flooding, land-use change erosion, biodiversity loss and stormwater pollution

Mid-Coast Open Coast Coastal Management Program (Stage 2)

The CMP sets out the long-term strategy for the coordinated management of the coastal zone

Merimbula and Back Lake Coastal Management Program (Stage 4)

The CMP builds on the objectives of the previous estuary management plan, while also addressing current issues for the estuaries

Manning River Estuary Coastal Management Program (certified)

Sets a 10-year plan to sustain estuary values by reducing land-use impacts on water quality and ecosystem health

Lower Shoalhaven River Coastal Management Program (certified)

To address threats to the estuary and maintain the ecological, social, and economic values of the Lower Shoalhaven River coastal zone
