Comment on applications

Submit comments on section 60 works applications made under the Heritage Act 1977 which are advertised.

 

Certain applications for works or activities are advertised when we or the Heritage Council decides that:

  • the proposal may materially affect the significance of the State Heritage Register item
  • it is in the public interest
  • the application has not already been advertised by a local council as part of an integrated development application.

Christ Church Cathedral, Newcastle

Title: Christ Church Cathedral, Movable Collections, Cemetery and Park (SHR no. 01858)

Notice is hereby given, under Section 61 of the Heritage Act 1977 that the Heritage Council of NSW has received an application (HMS ID 8979) for development at 52A Church Street, The Hill, NSW 2300, which is within the curtilage of the State Heritage Register item Christ Church Cathedral, Movable Collections, Cemetery and Park (SHR no. 01858) made under the Heritage Act.

Submissions opening date: 9:00 am 23 April 2025

Submissions closing date: 5:00 pm 14 May 2025

Description of the proposal as per the section 60 application form: The proposed works include repairing the copper roofs and roof drainage system, repairing water-damaged fabric, and performing general maintenance to address wear and environmental factors affecting the cathedral.

The Heritage Council of NSW invites written submissions regarding the proposal. Note that if a submission is made by way of objection, the reasons for objection must be specified in the submission. Unless you state otherwise, contents of your submission may also be provided to the applicant or other interested parties in some circumstances.

Hard copies of the documents may be inspected at the office location of Heritage NSW, Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, Podium level, 4 Parramatta Square, 12 Darcy Street, Parramatta between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday (please note this is by appointment only).

Goat Island

Title: Goat Island (SHR no. 00989)

Notice is hereby given, under Section 61 of the Heritage Act 1977 that the Heritage Council of NSW has received an application (HMS ID 9303) for development at Goat Island NSW 2477, which is within the curtilage of the State Heritage Register item Goat Island (SHR no. 00989) made under the Heritage Act.

Applicant: Department of Climate Change Energy Environment and Water

Description of the proposal as per the section 60 application form: Dismantle and remove the cantilever rotary jib and upper tower from the Goat Island 4–10 tons Fixed Electric Tower, retain significant elements for future interpretation and retain and conserve the crane tower.

Denison Bridge

Title: Denison Bridge (SHR no. 01665)

Notice is hereby given, under Section 61 of the Heritage Act 1977 that the Heritage Council of NSW has received an application (HMS ID 8102) for development at Macquarie River Great Western Highway Bathurst NSW 2795, which is within the curtilage of the State Heritage Register item Denison Bridge (SHR no. 01665) made under the Heritage Act.

Description of the proposal as per the section 60 application form: The proposed works involve installation of a pipe on the western (downstream) elevation of the Denison Bridge to service critical water infrastructure for the city of Bathurst as part of the Bathurst Water Harvesting Scheme.
