Habitat

Poorly drained headwater valleys and dune swales with infertile sandy peats and humic sandy loams on coastal sand sheets and coastal plateaux

Distribution

Scattered along coast from Ballina to Nadgee, extending into south-east Qld and along the East Gippsland coast (Vic).

Notes

A species-rich and very variable group of assemblages whose composition varies regionally with latitude and locally with soil drainage and chemistry. Species richness decreases south from Sydney region; numerous species not occurring south of Sydney. Shares floristic affinities with adjacent coastal heath formations and Coastal swamp forests.
