Media release: 27 March 2015

Responding to community demand the more mature members of the community can now experience the National Parks and Wildlife Service’ (NPWS) Discovery program activities at Cape Byron and Arakwal National Park over the Easter holidays.

NPWS Education Officer, Delta Kay, said the childrens ‘Walk With Me: Arakwal Aboriginal Guided Walk and Talk’ program has been popular and adults have been asking for a program for them for some time.

“It seems the kids had been having so much fun on our guided walks the adults want find out what all the excitement is about”, Delta said.

“This Easter for the first time, we are offering a cultural journey for adults, showcasing Arakwal country, our local culture and the special plants and animals that are part of this land”, she said.

“We have a fantastic local community and very friendly and interested visitors here in Byron Bay.

“We kept being asked for something similar for the ‘grown ups’.

“So this Easter the focus of our cultural walks for adults, still offering the unique and interesting program however, the activities are longer and more detailed”, she said.
