Lead Environmental Community Groups

This program helps lead community environmental organisations build the NSW community’s capacity to protect and conserve our environment.

This program is currently under review and is closed to applications.


The program funds peak community organisations that can effectively carry out community programs in environmental education and awareness.

Funding available

The program has an annual budget of $600,000.

There are two streams of funding:

  • stream 1 – grants up to $30,000 a year
  • stream 2 – grants of between $30,000 and $70,000 a year.

Who can apply?

This program is for ‘peak’ or ‘lead’ environmentally-focused community organisations that:

  • are non-government
  • are not-for-profit
  • have a full-time presence in NSW
  • work to protect and enhance the environment.

This program is currently closed to applications. 

There are no forms to download. If you receive a grant under this program we’ll send you the planning and reporting templates.

The most recent round of the program was in 2015–2016. In this round we awarded 15 two-year grants, totalling $1,224,900.
