Kosciuszko National Park wild horse community advisory panel

The Panel is established under the Kosciuszko Wild Horse Heritage Act 2018.

The panel provides advice to the Minister for Environment and Heritage or the National Parks and Wildlife Service on matters relating to the identification of the heritage value, and the management of, sustainable wild horse populations within Kosciuszko National Park.

Membership

Consistent with the Kosciuszko Wild Horse Heritage Act 2018, the panel is made up of 7 members appointed by the Minister for Environment and Heritage.

Mr John Pierce AO is Chair of the Panel. Mr Pierce is an eminent and respected former public official who has led state and federal government agencies.

Unfortunately, in the past, views and opinions on wild horse management have been expressed to previous panel members in ways that are not respectful, productive or in line with acceptable community standards. As such, details of other panel members will not be publicly disclosed.

Engaging with the panel

Community input for the panel's consideration is always welcome. You can reach the panel by emailing them using the Contact Us link on the right-hand side of this page.

Due to the panel's workload, frequency of meetings and number of submissions received, the panel will generally not respond to individual correspondence. However, the panel may choose to respond at its discretion.

When writing to the panel, please ensure your input is relevant to the implementation of the Kosciuszko National Park Wild Horse Heritage Management Plan.

A zero-tolerance approach will be taken to any correspondence that is considered harassing or threatening.
