Perisher Range resorts services
Perisher Valley Sewage Treatment Plant laboratory
The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is responsible for the care, control and management of the NSW alpine resort areas.
The Perisher Range resorts include the areas of Perisher Valley, Smiggin Holes, Guthega, Blue Cow, Sawpit Creek, Wilsons Valley and Diggers Creek.
Within the Perisher Range resorts, NPWS Municipal Services Unit is also responsible for providing services including water, waste water, garbage and in-resort roads.
Water
Water is provided to the village areas from Rock Creek, Piper’s Creek, Farm Creek and Sawpit Creek. It undergoes ultraviolet disinfection prior to distribution through the reticulation network.
Waste water treatment
NPWS operates two sewage treatment plants, one at Perisher Valley and one at Sawpit Creek. The Perisher Valley sewage treatment plant treats sewage effluent collected from Perisher Valley, Smiggin Holes and Guthega, while the Sawpit Creek plant treats all wastewater from the Kosciuszko Mountain Retreat tourist park.
Both sewage treatment plants operate under an Environment Protection Licence issued by the Environment Protection Authority (EPA).

Garbage

Waste and recycling huts at Perisher Valley lodges.
NPWS operates a waste collection service during the ski season for Perisher Valley and Smiggin Holes premises. Waste is collected by a contractor on a daily or twice-weekly basis and is transported to the Perisher Valley Waste Transfer Station. Waste and recyclables in Guthega are collected from the waste transfer area at the Guthega Ski Centre.
Charlotte Pass Village waste is transported to the Perisher Valley Waste Transfer Station.
Waste stored at the Perisher Valley Waste Transfer Station is taken to the Jibndabyne landfill, while recyclables are transported out of the park for sorting by a contractor to distribute to recycling markets in NSW.
There is no waste collection service in summer; premises are required to bring their waste and recyclables to the Perisher Valley Waste Transfer Station or to bins located around the villages.
Roads
When snow conditions allow, most internal roads within Perisher Range resorts are snow covered and only accessible by oversnow transport. The NPWS licenses a commercial operator to provide public oversnow transport operations in Perisher Valley, Smiggin Holes and Guthega. The NPWS maintains the snow-covered internal roads within these places using snow cats to groom the surfaces and provide safe access to lodges and other places. For further information regarding road status within Perisher Village and other alpine resorts, please contact the NPWS office on 6457 4444.
For information on Kosciuszko Road contact the RTA on 132 701.
