As part of the renewable energy precinct initiative, the NSW Government is delivering a suite of information packages about renewable energy for community and industry.

Pre-Feasibility Study for a Solar Power Precinct

The NSW Office of Environment and Heritage commissioned AECOM Australia Pty Ltd to conduct a pre-feasibility study into a large-scale solar precinct in NSW. The study examines the commercial and technical feasibility of co-locating four 250 megawatt solar power stations in an area to facilitate sharing of infrastructure. Five areas were selected for detailed study (Broken Hill, Darlington Point, Dubbo, Moree, Tamworth).

Community Attitudes to Wind Farms in NSW

The NSW Office of Environment and Heritage commissioned AMR Interactive to conduct a survey of over 2000 residents and 300 businesses in regional areas in NSW on attitudes to wind farms and renewable energy.

Clean energy jobs in regional NSW

Clean energy jobs snapshots and roadmaps have been prepared for each of the six renewable energy precincts and NSW by The Climate Institute. The snapshots provide an overview of each region's clean energy resources, estimates of the opportunities for clean energy jobs and summarise regional strengths and challenges. The roadmaps are a more detailed assessment of clean energy jobs prospects in each precinct to assist regional stakeholders to develop strategies that maximise the jobs opportunities.

Wind Energy Fact Sheet

The Wind Energy Fact Sheet has been developed to provide balanced, accessible information to the community on questions they have about wind energy – from big-picture issues such as the savings in greenhouse gases and the efficiency of wind turbines, to local issues such as the economic benefits, environmental safeguards and noise associated with wind farms.

Estimating Greenhouse Gas Abatement from Wind Farms in NSW

The NSW Office of Environment and Heritage engaged McLennan Magasanik Associates (SKM MMA) to estimate the greenhouse gas savings from wind farms in NSW and in each of the six renewable energy precincts.

NSW Wind Farm Greenhouse Gas Savings Tool

Based on the study, Estimating Greenhouse Gas Abatement from NSW Wind Farms, the NSW Wind Farm Greenhouse Gas Savings Tool has been developed to allow community and industry to easily calculate the projected greenhouse gas savings for wind farms in NSW and in their areas. Estimates for greenhouse gas savings for new wind farms can now be produced using this standardised methodology based on the modelling done by MMA.

Impact of wind farms on surrounding land values in Australia

The NSW Valuer-General commissioned an independent study by Duponts (now Preston, Rowe, Patterson) to provide objective, unbiased and credible information on likely impacts of wind farms on land value in a NSW and Australian context.

NSW Small Wind Turbine Consumer Guide

The NSW Office of Environment and Heritage commissioned Enhar to adapt the Victorian Consumer Guide to Small Wind Turbine Generation for NSW. The guide provides industry and consumers with all the information necessary when considering the purchase of a small wind turbine including assessing your site, choosing a turbine, planning approvals and installation.
