| Draft Sydney Region Pest Management Strategy 2008-2011 - Comments are currently being sought on the draft Pest Management Strategy for the Sydney Region of the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS). The strategy identifies the negative impacts of pest animals and weeds to biodiversity, cultural heritage, amenity and other park values and provides NPWS with a strategic approach to pest management. The draft strategy is on exhibition from 13 October 2008 -l 21 November 2008. | |
| Proposed Protection of the Environment Operations (General) Regulation 2008 - The draft POEO (General) Regulation 2008 aims to ensure that the provisions of the POEO Act can be implemented in an efficient and effective manner, recover the costs of administering the POEO Act and the Regulation as part of applying the polluter-pays principle, and provide additional incentive for the reduction of emissions of pollutants for activities under Schedule 1 of the POEO Act. This includes encouraging licensees subject to Load Based Licensing (LBL) to improve their environmental performance beyond what is required by the complementary command and control approaches. | |

| Interim Community Consultation Requirements for Applicants - DECC respects and acknowledges the role of Aboriginal people in the management and protection of their cultural heritage. Applicants for an AHIP are required to consult with members and representatives of Aboriginal communities that might be affected by the activity. To facilitate this, DECC developed Interim Community Consultation Requirements for Applicants to clarify consultation requirements. DECC is committed to a comprehensive review of these interim requirements before they are finalised. A Discussion Paper has been developed to identify the key issues raised with DECC, and to pose questions for consideration. | |
