Questions and answers

What is a statement of management intent?

After a park's reservation and before the release of its plan of management, a statement of management intent is prepared outlining the management principles and priorities for the park's management. This statement briefly documents the cultural heritage, geology, native animals and plants found within the park, as well as describing threats, including fire, pests and climate change.

The statement of management intent is not a statutory document and a plan of management will still need to be prepared. Publication of a draft or final plan will replace the statement of management intent for the Pilliga Outwash parks.

What opportunities will the community have to comment?

The draft statement of management intent is on public exhibition until 7 August 2017 and anyone can review the statement and provide comments.
