Submissions have now closed for the draft Occupation Licence for a shed at Rouse Hill Regional Park. The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) are now reviewing submissions and these will help finalise the Occupation Licence. Once the licence has been endorsed, Wildfire Community Inc. can start using the space for a Men's Shed. If you have any further enquiries regarding this licence please call the NPWS Cumberland office on 4572 3100.

The exhibition of the draft licence provided an important opportunity for members of the community to have a say about the future management of this shed.

Questions and answers

What is this about?

A local community group would like to use an empty shed at Rouse Hill Regional Park to establish a Men's Shed. Wildfire Community Hub Inc. has applied to National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) to grant an Occupation Licence for them to occupy this space. The establishment of the Men's Shed will facilitate community involvement in park management operations. A draft licence was prepared and was available for review and comment.

What is a Men's Shed?

According to the Australian Men's Shed Association 'a Men's Shed is a community-based, non-profit, non-commercial organisation that is accessible to all men and whose primary activity is the provision of a safe and friendly environment where men are able to work on meaningful projects at their own pace in their own time in the company of other men. A major objective is to advance the well-being and health of their male members.'

When will the licence be finalised?

At the end of the public exhibition period, NPWS will comprehensively review all submissions and make a decision on whether to finalise the licence.
