Consent to conduct an event

You may require additional consent to conduct an event (commercial or otherwise) that differs from the activities that are specifically permitted under your Parks Eco Pass licence.

Consent is required from the NPWS for any sporting activity, public meeting, function, demonstration or gathering conducted on a commercial or non-commercial basis in a park. These events may be regular, or a one-off occasion, such as a wedding, family gathering or fundraising function.

In particular, consent is required in the following situations:

Sporting competition

To conduct or take part in any sporting activity that forms part of an organised competition or tournament.

Any event involving more than 40 people

To organise, attend or participate in any concert, public meeting, function, demonstration or gathering involving more than 40 persons*.

Any group activity involving more than 40 people

To organise, attend or participate in any group activity involving more than 40 persons*, any manoeuvre whether of a military, naval, aerial nature or otherwise, any course of training or any similar activity.

* A local plan of management or park notice may specify a group number of less than 40 people for a particular park or area.

Applying for a consent

If you need an event consent or would like to find out more about conducting an event in a particular park, please contact the national park office in the area where you plan to conduct the event.  A list of national parks offices is available online.
